Frequently Asked Questions
What insurances do you take?
NOTE: Not all our clinicians accept the same forms of insurance.
To ensure that you can use your insurance, please speak with your clinician and/or contact your insurance company directly.
Medicare | KY Medicaid | WellCare of KY | Optum (United Healthcare) | Anthem BCBS KY | Passport Health Plan by Molina | Aetna | Aetna Better Health KY | Humana
What if I don't want to use insurance or don't have insurance?
No problem! Our out of pocket cost is $80 for 50-minute session. We also offer a sliding scale fee when applicable. Please speak to your clinician directly to see if this is an option for you.

All clients who are uninsured or choose to be self-pay are eligible to receive a "good faith estimate" (GFE). A personal GFE will be provided upon notice of intent to pay out of pocket. For further information about the 'No Surprises Act', please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
What is my copay?
Since all policies are different, that is unfortunately not something that we can tell you. However, on the back of your insurance card, there should be a "Member Services" or something similar with a phone number that you can contact to find out copay, coinsurance, and deductible information.
What happens if I can't make my appointment?
Once again, not a problem. Just follow your individual clinician's cancellation policy. As a general rule, this is usually at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. However, we do understand that life happens. When you don't cancel within a timely manner, or just don't show up ("no show"), your clinician loses the chance to fill your time slot, which means your clinician is losing income- and that's not cool. Please respect your clinician's time. Your clinician also reserves the right to terminate the therapeutic relationship due to multiple no-shows or late cancellations.
How do I know which therapist is "right" for me?
Good question! Since all individuals are different (including therapists!), finding the "right" one can be hard. This is why we offer free consultations. A consult can last around 15-20 minutes and allows you and the clinician to meet before establishing services to make sure you're a good fit. You can find out more about their specific treatment modalities and what therapy might "look like" with them. We totally get it if you don't feel like you mesh as well with your preferred clinician as you thought. We understand what therapy is like and know the importance of finding the right therapist for your specific needs. Just let us know! We can absolutely provide you with other options, whether that be within our agency or elsewhere.

Please contact info@bettermentalhealthky.com if you have questions about a specific therapist or a treatment modality offered!
How do I pay?
Once you are an established client of BMHKY, you will have access to a client portal, which will allow you to pay virtually. Copays are due at the time of services.
